Kindred

Kindred is the first solo exhibition by Ella Morris. The show also celebrates the culmination of Ella’s Bath Spa University Graduate Residency at Bath Artist’s Studios.

Throughout her residency, Ella has continued to explore the core themes of her work, engaging with the boundary between animality and humanity, making hybrids utilising our innate capacity to conceptualise the animal species.

In Ella’s own words

‘I have focused a lot on birds because of a personal kinship I feel with them, however I do believe they are one species that have a symbiotic relationship with us; they live amongst us with ease and with a confidence nearly unparalleled.’

Originally from Blackpool, Ella moved to Bath to study Contemporary Arts Practice at Bath Spa University. On graduating, she was awarded the opportunity to join the BAS community for the residency allowing her the space and freedom to create and investigate her practice further.
