The UNESCO World Heritage site of Avebury in Wiltshire, UK is place that has a deep history of human engagement. Since 2018, artists from Bath Artists’ Studios have been visiting Avebury, and its associated monuments, collectively and individually, as a field-based methodology that focuses on site specific making, collaboration and creative practice. This is a cross-disciplinary project with artists working in a wide range of media and processes. The outcome is an ongoing body of work that is textured, experimental, contextual and conversational. So far, there have been two exhibitions in the Roper Gallery, Bath Artists’ Studios (2019 and 2022) and at Pound Arts Corsham (2022). These exhibitions present the outcome of some of that work. Avebury is an on-going collaboration about place, process, site and landscape that places value on collaboration, promotes the sharing of ideas and celebrates the diversity of artistic work inspired by this extraordinary landscape and monumental complex. Details of the artists’ practice and their contact details can be found on the Bath Artists’ Studios website.
