Sybille Hennig

17th - 26th June 2022 11:00 am to 4:00 pm

Sybille Hennig is a Bath-based artist and this exhibition is a lively, witty and gloriously busy retrospective of her paintings, drawings and linocuts from the 1970s up to the present day.

Born in Berlin, Sybille then moved to South Africa where she received an MA in Fine Art from Rhodes University then went on to lecture at Port Elizabeth Technikon and the University of Fort Hare.

Sybille moved to the UK in 2007 and her work has been featured at 44AD in Bath and as part of Art of the Heart at the Royal United Hospital.

In her own words: “I plunder my sketch books which are in the nature of a diary. I incorporate what Dylan Thomas called ‘the backyard lock-up of my mind’, countless images which often come to me by surprise. As a result of this process, my images can be rather crowded, but I like it that way.”
